Chester has been ranked one of the best UK cities to visit and the tenth most profitable in England, with a reputation as being one of the best shopping cities in the country.
Whilst at Percy Thomas Partnership, Arnot Hughes was the team leader responsible for the expansion and upgrade of the original precinct, to reflect the ever-changing needs of both consumer and retailer.
Facilities were added and upgraded including a restaurant, exhibition and seating areas,
fountains, access to the roof car parking area as well as improving pedestrian flow by providing additional entrances.
The complex nature of the project in modernising a centre whilst ensuring that none of the tenants lost trademeant that new techniques and ways of working were adopted to and consumers.
The design and finish of the precinct is synonymous with that of Chester providing shops, finishes and facilities of quality, which are reflected in the common user areas and in the shop fitting design.
The success of that project lead to Arnot becoming the partner in charge of designing and constructing a new hall for the Duke and Duchess of Westminster in Chester and at Lawray, a new lodge home on the same estate.
