Lawray were appointed to design the refurbishment of the Lambeth Road site public WC facilities.
Lawray were also asked to carry out feasibility inspections of each particular site
and the drafting and submission of respective reports for future works under the IWM facilities management programme.
The inspections and recommendations referred to the following areas: -
Imperial War Museum (Lambeth Road)
New roof over existing building (old Bedlam Hospital) Stonework and brick work repairs/renovation including main entrance portico
Renovation works to all existing windows on main building
Review Part M disabled access and strategy within museum
Refurbishment of a number of offices affected by rainwater damage
M+E climate control for archives block
Works to the distinctive Dome (copper roof, windows and external render)
Review library and conference facility, repair works to roof where mechanical plant located due to leaks
Works to HMS Belfast (moored on the Thames) ticket office (land side).
All Saints Annex (Lambeth site) main archive and administration/information facility for the museum, works refer to reconfiguration of meeting rooms, WCs and offices with redecoration and new works to front entrance.
War cabinet rooms (Whitehall) issues with damp penetration, review damage and advise on treatments, review conferencing and general areas for architectural input.
Reports to be tabled at Committee meeting and funding agreed prior to commencement of any works.
