Lawray were appointed as Design and Build Architects for the construction of a new Research Laboratory Building designed to give a modern hi-tech image on an existing industrial site. The initial concept design for the building was re-visited with the final brief defined by Lawray in close consultation with the building users.
The facility comprises of a 1600m² single storey building comprising various laboratories with support Offices and Ancillary Accommodation. The resulting high level of services was housed within a dedicated ancillary adjacent Plant Building. Particular attention was given to the various laboratory performance criteria, for the avoidance of cross contamination and the requirement for logistical separation within the building.
