The new Primary school was built on the large playing fields of the existing 1910 school building which was subsequently demolished. The land released was then developed by Asda to create a new Store, thus funding this project and the extensive refurbishment and additions of associated schools.
The School accommodates 225 pupils including a Nursery and an additional 25 place Assessment Centre.
Following detailed discussions with the Local Education Authority and the School the design evolved into a series of class bases, linked with acoustic sliding doors and also into joint practical areas. These central practical areas were double height, top lit and naturally ventilated.
Discrete entrances for Nursery, Infant and Junior children, each off their own play areas are provided. A separate entrance for visitors leads onto a central display/library area.
